What is RFID?

RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) is a means of storing and accessing information using wireless communications. Essentially, RFID lets you attach a small data storage device to virtually anything. The technology not only allows you to read the stored information from a distance, but it can be read without being visible. You can even add, change or delete information. Several retailers and federal agencies are starting to require RFID labels on palletized goods and RFID is being used in many other types of applications including:

  • Supply Chain
  • Mass Transit
  • Event Management
  • Access Control
  • Ticketing
  • Sensor Monitoring & Control
  • Temperature Monitoring
  • Loyalty Programs

When implementing an RFID system into your operation, keep in mind that printing RFID labels in ribbonless mode eliminates operational inefficiencies, thereby increasing the system's cost effectiveness.
